Warning: latest Dropline Gnome issue: XkB error

A little warning for those people just installing or upgrading to the latest version of dropline gnome: Because the change from XFree86 to xOrg is now complete, some issues with missing xkb configurations may occur (I just had this on my parents computer). Some fixes are presented here : http://www.dropline.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2452

It boils down to this:

In the keyboard section of xorg.conf change

Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
to
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(this fixed it for me).

Uninstalling and reinstalling the xorg-package has also been known to help.

Later versions of dropline will have a fix for this.

Thankx! I just installed Dropline 2.6 and got that error when I started up this morning. I'll have to try that fix when I get home.

The Dropline-installer should now change the xorg.conf automatically. I think older versions didn't...

I had an Xkb error and uninstalling Xorg and reinstalling using the dropline installer fixed my problem
:)

Anyone know why dropline breaks imwheel setup?

Duffy: What do you mean by uninstalled xorg? Do you mean the whole Dropline Gnome or what? I have the same problem, but the xorg.conf has the correct line though. Should I try to re-install the whole thing or what will fix this annoying error message (xkb)? Ideas?

'removepkg xorg'

then run dropline-installer and do a full install.. it will only install 1 package (xorg) and things will be ok.

if you get 3 little funny lines at the top of the screen.. just reboot. :P

i reinstalled my slackware machince a few weeks ago.. however before I did I updated dropline (I like dropline for the packages it includes) and I had this problem.. however when running gnome.. my resoltuion reset to 1024x768.. when I was running at 1280x1024?? anyone else have that problem???

I have yet to install dropline since my clean install of Slackware :)

should not matter, xorg copies XF86Config to xorg.conf in /etc/X11/

in any case just 'vi' or use X to modify the xorg.conf file to your likings.
