I wouldn't really worry about 10.2, just go ahead and get 10.1 , and play with Slackware all you want. As for me, I am still using 10.0 , because 10.1 does not really have any major changes, and I just keep up with security fixes for 10.0, so I am perfectly happy. I will upgrade to the next release of Slackware, 11 , whenever that comes out, and hopefully, the default kernel is 2.6.
I kinda think that Slackware 10.2 and 11.0 will come out at the same time, with 10.2 having kernel 2.4 and 11.0 having kernel 2.6. Is it not what they did when they switched from 2.2 to 2.4?

Hi folks,
I think it's time to consider this to be mostly frozen and concentrate on
beta testing in preparation for the Slackware 10.2 release, so there won't
be too many more upgrades and additions. Things are going to be pretty
busy for me over the next couple of weeks besides working on getting 10.2
finalized, but let me know about any issues that need fixing before the
release and I'll get to them just as soon as I can. Have fun!
