VMWare Tools.

You have to be so sick of theese questions now.

I installed it, worked fine.
I ran the config to set everything right and it completed successfully.
Then I "startx" and i get a black screen with my boot options and it hangs.

Have i forgotten anything ?

pretty light on information there... please try to be more descriptive...

erm.. have a look at /var/log/XFree86.0.og there will possibly be some nasty error there from the last time it hung.

i do have a problem with the addition of vmware tools...

i installed a FC3 on a XP Media centrer that has vmware on it. After the installation the display size is out of proportion... there is a note in vmware to install the vmware tools but if i try to install it, it says that i have to shut x first before installing the tools. However, i just can't get to a regular console ctrl+alt+Fx just doesn't work in vm ware.

any suggestion?

OK, i'm using linux for the first time on a virtual machine http://www.vmware.com/

Normally, (i meen on a regular linux box) i can go to ctrl-alt-F4 and kill -9 (X process), it seems that i can't do that on a virtual machine... To install the vm tools (that provide you with the ability to have a resolution other that 600 x 480) i have to shut down X before installing the tools . Is there and other way to shut X that would bring me the the command line only, or is there a way to start linux in command line only (that would do it...)

I use VMWare 4.5.1...it says I don't have the tools installed, but I'm using 1024x768x24 despite this. (Mandrake 10.1, FreeBSD 5.3...same thing.)
