videos view fine in XFCE but not FLUXBOX

Trying to watch on-line videos in FluxBox - most will play some will not. I can't find any common thread re what does or doesn't play. Situation is the same no matter what browser I use (generally Swiftfox). If I switch to XFCE, there are no issues. Using standard install of 13.1 and have no other issues. Have no idea where to look or what to look for.
Help?

Maybe you should tell us exactly what happens when you try to play those videos and what errors you receive from the browser.

Nothing happens - when I click on the start icon there is no result. There are no error messages from the browser either.

I have run into problems with YouTubes where they don't play when I click the big arrow in the middle of the screen. If I right click and select "Play on YouTube," they play on YouTube.

This is in the Opera browser, which has been my first choice for almost a decade. I haven't bothered to test in other browsers, because this is a problem I can live with, since I have workaround, and I am both a Fluxbox fanboy and an Opera fanboy.

I've had this on Fluxbox under both Ubuntu and Slackware.

That happens to me too, in embedded YouTube players and non-YouTube videos. It only seems to work reliably in YouTube.com itself.

But I use Chromium and the HTML5 player for YouTube, it's much less glitchy and more reliable than the Flash player.

MTK358, as a long-time Opera fanboy who uses Opera not only for browsing, but also for RSS, mail, newsgroups, and IRC, I will not desert Opera.

But I will test out your suggestion. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I can live with the workaround. The question now is why does this happen in Flux but not in XFCE? Any ideas of where to look?
