video resolution in console after compile

Hey all,

I was able to fix this once before by searching by myself, but now I
can't find the same info.

I recently re-installed and re-compiled and my console is at 640x480,
Lilo says to set it at 1024x768x256 "vga=773?".
But it's not displaying at that.
What did I miss???????

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Wolfy

Have you tried reconfiguring either manually or with
Code:

xorgconfig
?

*EDIT: Just realized you said "in console" - are you running videos outside of X (ie: on the CLI)?

Hmm. Could be a number of things. You might want to check which framebuffer options you compiled into the kernel. I ran into problems specifying drivers other than VESA. In order to get it working right, I had to eliminate everything but the VESA driver for framebuffer. You could also try enabling video mode selection. That way you can put "vga=ask" in your lilo.conf and see what modes are available. When you find the right one, just edit lilo again and set the vga for that mode. Hope this helps.

Okay I tried to isolate the video to only the vesa driver = FAILED
Tried removing agpart = FAILED
Tried to set lilo to ask = FAILED

I know that there is an answer out there I did it once before......

There has to be something that I am missing only I can't find it.......

There has got to be some GURU out there that knows, I am asking for advice, PLEASE!
