VLC is a nice multimedia player that plays just about anything you can throw at it. As to your original question -- are you using Windows? Because, if you are, this is a LINUX forum, and a Slackware subforum. If you are using Linux, the "My Documents" folder is odd -- and a .exe file would be basically useless (unless you try running it under WINE, but that's iffy).
This article suggests that your camcorder should get mounted as a mass storage device -- meaning you can just copy the videos to/from the device. Based on the comments in that article I can tell you have already read it (and someone replied, too!)
As for trying to transfer files under Windows, see if you can mount it as a mass storage device (ie check My Computer to see if there is an extra drive showing) and see if you can copy the files that way.
