VCR to DVD Capture

There are programs that capture video from a device like the dvc80 from dazzle that lets you plug the red white and yellow plugs from a vcr to the device which then plugs in as a usb device to the comp.. I want a program that can do that.. I know nero can for windows and so can pinnacle studios for windows but i want to use linux... Thats one of the only things keeping me from having a linux box.... Stupid windows is just pissing me off.

It is more a driver than a program that you need. Once device recognised by system you can use mencoder from MPlayer or ffmpeg to make movie.

It is a driver job. If you haven't the driver for your device, you can't use any program to do something with the device.

I am curretnly setting up my new slackware (9.1) system. One of the tasks I have is to set up my video captur card. It is a PCI card - a Brooktree 878 card. The previous poster is right, the first step is to set up the device. the software part is easy (or atleast it was on my last distrobution!!).

I don't know if you want to wait, but that is one of the things I am hoping to do tongiht. Have to got work today. I will post on this thread what I do, and the programs I use once/(IF????) it works out tonight.

best regards - tw
