I wish I could help you guys but unless you can tell me how to replicate the behavior your expierencing, I haven't the faintest idea of whats happening. Typically why I don't use login managers. Just added some more progs to "office"... "office" is now "extra". Again, if you already have abiword installed, get into /var/log/gnome-2.18.3 and change "WHATEVER-MANIFEST" to "EXTRA-MANIFEST"...

I'm still calling it final because the mechanics aren't likely to change. I'm just adding extra programs.
