/usr/X11R6/bin/startx

Is is necessary to add ' -nolisten tcp' to serverargs in /usr/X11R6/bin/startx to stop me seeing port 6000 open when I nmap localhost. Or is it even a security issue?

Thanks.

Welcome to LQ

It's always best to close unused ports. Every open port is security issue

Running nmap on localhost is a waste of time.

Try an external site like this :-

grc.com has a very comprehensive port scanner as well, it's called ShieldsUP!

Thanks for the replies, I've tried the sites to scan my ip. I'll continue to edit that file to close the port.
