Using OpenDNS in Slackware

Googled this beforehand, and the only page at LQ that I could find had instructions for 11.0 that didn't help.

I'm trying to use opendns for my computer. I've registered and the page suggested I install ddclient in order to autoupdate dynamic IP address changes. So I did. It said to add
Code:
##
## OpenDNS.com account-configuration
##
use=web, web=whatismyip.com
server=updates.opendns.com
protocol=dyndns2
login=xxxxxxxx
password=xxxxxxx
netname
So I did.

Now I'm stuck. What do I have to do in order to get my computer to use opendns?

If it matters, I'm on a laptop connecting to the internet via an Android phone running wirelesstether.

Did you build ddclient using the SlackBuild?

If so, it installs a rc.ddclient script in /etc/rc.d that starts the "daemon".

Also, did you install the dependencies?

I did install it using slackbuilds.org, and I did install all dependencies (including the optional dependencies for the ddclient dependencies). Couldn't get it to work, but turns out there's an app called Set DNS which changes the DNS servers used on a rooted android. Changed to OpenDNS with this and it works fine now on my laptop when connecting to the phone as an AP. So problem solved.
