Using a Voodoo Graphics board

Hi. would like to know how I am supposed to get a Voodoo Graphics (Voodoo1 - Canopus Pure3D) to work with Slack?

I've installed the 3dfx Glide 2 libraries and the voodoo_graphics libraries from /extra/3dfx but test3Dfx can't seem to find my card... Any Ideas? I'm currently using Slackware 8.1 and 9.0 but neither seems to have worked.

Also, does anybody know if the Pure3D tv-out functional uner Linux... Haven't had time to drag a TV besides the little machine.

Thanks in Advance.

suse or mandrake would probably set up the card
automagically. i tried for a while to find settings for
an old voodoo1 card, but there seems to be nothing
on the web for that old card anymore. i set it up
once a few years ago. I can't find any of that info anymore.
i think you need support built into the kernel too.

the linux-2.4.20 has built in 3dfx voodoo# support.

Should be under something like Character device of so..

Hi. Thanks for your suggestions... However, when I attempt to modprobe the sstfb.o module (VooDoo FB module) the kernel goes bonkers and crashes.
My goal here is to setup a box with a TV for a monitor, so I can use it as a residential gateway for my cable modem. Any ideas? or at least tools I can use to configure the TV-out of the Pure3D? My 2D card (on board SiS 6326 text mode does not display quite right on the TV , the refresh is too fast I think.

Voodoo cards are old, and there are support problems, I don't think anyone is writing new software for them anymore. Have you considered getting a cheap geforce2 mx with a tv out chip?

I've thought about that and it seems to be impossible to get PCI cards locally...
'sides I'm trying to make do with my Pure3D, which happens to be lying around...

And I just discovered what went wrong - I did not have the 3dfx module loaded / plus the /dev/3dfx entry was missing... thanks everybody.

In any case the project is a bust unless my PC is smaller - more embeddable :(

Thanks anyhow...
