use of battery slackware 14.0 is wasteful


use of battery on my laptop using the operating system slackware 14.0 is wasteful, ways to save battery usage on slackware 14?my machine is Lenovo G480, Slackware 14.0 with kernel 3.7.1.

You could try powertop.
For me (Lenovo T60p) settings seem to lose effect after a resume from suspend (YMMV).

I'm not sure if this is applicable to your kernel/laptop, but I managed to double my battery life with the following kernel parameters added to my /etc/lilo.conf.
