USB Steering Wheel?

I'm looking to to abandon Windows all together, but one item I don't have sorted is being able to connect my USB Steering Wheel for games and using it within Slackware64.

Has anyone successfully used a steering wheel for games? Is there anything I need to do to have it work?

I haven't used it, but it was properly detected at boot. So I guess it's usable.

run a lsusb, you should see it in the listing. if it's detected, it's usable.

What brand is it ? Logitech ones should work as there are many drivers for them in the kernel.

It's an older Saitek R440 Force. It uses basic joystick controls for it's motion. I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully will soon.
