Hi,
I was using Slackware 10.2, kernel 2.4.31 and everything was fine. I installed 2.6.16.9 today, and everything seems okay, except my mouse!! I have a USB-mouse and this was working with the earlier kernel. Now i get to start my KDE, installed the NVIDIA driver, but the mouse just doesnt work. I tried fiddling around with xorgconfig, and i went to pkgtool and installed the mouse again. I also enabled hotplug, but all seems to be of no use.
I am a noob and hence i am not very familiar with all the stuff. If i have missed out anything ...please HELP!!
thanx

so you have an nvidia mouse? =)
try #mouseconfig and select 'PS/2' as well as fluxx's suggesion.
also, if the mouse is optical ensure that the red laser is on.. When i first upgraded to 2.6.15 i missed one of the USB modules uhci - i think... which left the mouse lifeless as well (i.e. no light)
Also, try set the mouse protocol to 'Auto' in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Thanx for the immediate reply. ..i tried with a USB to PS/2 converter and it worked. But i want to use USB nonetheless, will try out your suggestion(s) and hopefully it should work.

So you tried a 'physical' converter plug? like converts the USB 2 PS/2 ?...
Let me know after you try the software changes above as well =)
should work..
