usb modem and S-ATA Disk problem...need your help

Hello friends,

I am new to Slackware. I installed Slackware 10.2 on my system on extra ATA 20gb hard disk, because my S-ATA 250Gb hard disk is not detecting by slackware. And I have a problem to make internet connection also. I am using Terayon Tj720 USB modem for internet in Windows XP. Printer is also attached with USB cable.

** How can I detect and set up my usb devices in
slackware...

** How can I add/detect S-ATA hard disk...

I need your help...thanks a lot

When you installed Slackware, did you choose the SCSI kernel? If not, that's probably why you can't access the SATA drive. If you did use the SCSI kernel, then the chipset is probably too recent for that kernel and you'll have to use a more recent version.

You could try switching to a 2.6 kernel. It's available on the Slackware ftp site or its mirrors, under /testing/packages/linux-2.6.13/ Google suggests that your USB modem is supported under a 2.6 kernel, not sure about the Slackware default 2.4 kernel. Make sure that you update lilo after updating the kernel!

If you want to take the chances, here's a fine guide for 2.6 kernel compiling on slack

http://xushi.co.uk/guides/kernel.php

it isn't that hard when you understand what's going on
