usb kde dolphin mount permissions

Dear Slackers,
I am running Slackware64-14.2. I have a problem with the mounting of my usb stick as a normal user under Dolphin in KDE. It is always mounted with the following permissions:
Code:
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root
so that I cannot write.

However, if I mount it as a normal user from the command line,
the permissions are:
Code:
drwxr-xr-x 7 marto users
and I can write. Unmounting from the command line in this case is OK, but if I attempt to unmount it from Dolphin, a window pops out that says: "Authentication is required to unmount ...".
Any ideas?

Here are the group memberships of my user "marto":
Code:
users lp floppy audio video cdrom plugdev power netdev scanner ntfsuser
and the relevant line in my fstab:
Code:
/dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb auto noauto,users 0 0

Hi,

try removing the line from fstab and adding haldaemon to the group list.

If it doesn't work, since you are using KDE, try modifying System Settings > Removable Devices.

haldaemon is not needed in the group list. Removing the entry from fstab should be sufficient enough to allow automatic mounting.

@tramni1980, it is much easier to allow the system to automatically handle mounting of removable media. Using an fstab entry severely limits things and you can run into the issues you're seeing. Removing that entry will allow KDE to handle the mounting automatically. When you plug in the drive, KDE will even pop up a little window asking you want you want to do with it, and it will show on the left panel in dolphin. It also allows you to easily unmount the drive to allow safe removal.

Thank you very much, bassmadrigal, that worked like a charm!

Best regards,
