usb ipod issues (dmesg readout)

*newbie*
I've been searching for quite a bit on this forum to try to resolve my usb problem. My ipod wont show up in x, and I can't mount it in the shell. The only really usefull (maybe?) thing I found while searching was the command dmesg. Here is the last bunch of lines. Maybe someone could make some sense out of it. I had been using the ipod with gtkpod and a live Slax boot. I would plug the ipod in, mount it in the GUI, read it with gtkpod and transfer the data. Now I'm running Slackware 10.2 w/ 2.4.31 Kernel. Thanks!

How are you issuing the mount command?

It should be : mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/ipod

Assuming of course you have made a folder in /mnt named ipod.

Is this a Mac formatted iPod or a Windows formatted iPod (you can check on the iPod itself under Settings -> About)?

In ny experience, Windows formatted iPods are easier to handle. Mac formatted iPods may require kenrel recompiling. Depends on the setup, though.

You'll probably get better info if you say what format/iPod version/etc. you have.
