I got bitten by this, too, and I didn’t understand what was going on either; in fact, I had to study the install scripts to find this out. In my opinion, the description of the option could be a whole lot clearer; who would think, from the description, that the pre-mounted directory needs to have a Slackware ISO file?

If this is true in 14.1 then it's an error... I've installed previous versions using that option and it worked as expected (it needs the slackware/{a,ap,[..]} tree)

Using a simple tool for windows,ISOTOUSB, I burned the image to the USB stick and was able to successfully install Slackware 14.1 (for the first time ever!). I will say that the KDE interface is very smooth, fast and fluid, and so far, I really like it.
Now to get the wireless working...
Thanks again for all the help. Marking as solved.

I think getting wireless networking to work will first require installing the appropriate firmware. It's certainly what I need to do when I install Slackware on my laptop; the easiest way to do it (at least on my hardware) is through some SlackBuild package.
In any case, if missing firmware is the issue, then "dmesg" should tell you about it. Just look for lines that contain the word "firmware" and see what that comes up with. Google will most likely help you find out how to continue from there.

Installed my broadcom driver, rebooted, and got the wifi working. Now I can move onto what I set out to do in the first place, another LFS build--this time based on Slack! Thanks again!
