USB gamepad configuration help

I have been searching the forums for a solution to this problem but haven't been able to find a definitive solution.

I am running slackware 10.2 on the default 2.4.31 kernel. I have a logitech precision USB gamepad. My problem is that I just can't seem to get the gamepad to work. I have modprobed these modules: joydev, hid, adi, and input.
I tried following Mega Man X's post located here:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ht=usb+gamepad

But was only able to successfully modprobe hid and adi, when I try to modprobe usb-hc I got an error message saying "can't locate module usb-hc". When I try to modprobe usb-uhci I got these errors:
Quote:

/lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz: init_module: No such device
/lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/drivers/usb/host/usb-uhci.o.gz: insmod usb-uhci failed
Here is the output of lsmod:

Also I know that the USB gamepad works, because I used it in slackware 10.0 fine, however I can't seem to get it to work in 10.2 :(

Any ideas?

EDIT: When I try cat /dev/input/js0 I get "cat: /dev/input/js0: No such device"

I had a problem with a logitech gamepad once. I just upgraded the Kernel to 2.6 and had no more problems.

Thanks for the input Dankles, I'll try kernel 2.6 if I have to.

Default configs don't have gamepads enabled, as modules or builtin. Just configure/compile 2.6 for what you need.

I just thought I would let you all know, I just finished compiling 2.6.15.4 and my gamepad works now.
Thanks for the advice.

Great! Good to see that it worked.
