US Robotics not working under slackware 10

hi i duno what wrong with this modem 3com us robotics 56k external modem . well fortunately is not my box but of my friend.
okay i configured my dialup connnection via pppsetup , exactly teh same way i configured at my home box (i have different modem at home) but no luck here.
when i run "ppp-on" its start dialing for then hangs, when checking through /var/log/messages every things looks fine but "modem hangs up!"

Anyone gota same headache with the same modem?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using some of the grpahical programs out there, kppp and gnome-ppp. Both have diagnostics.

Hello friend,

Can you please check your modem via "minicom" utility (if you have installed it with Slackware CD) ?

After it opened, write ATZ command in minicom. It will reset your modem. Then write ATD command. It will dial up your modem. Be sure that your modem keeps dialed up itself.

So we can understand your modem works very well...

I didn't checked it with minicom things but im pretty sure its working coz in M$ its do connect Net.

seondly there is no gui installed all i have pppd via pppsetup
so?
