uploading a file and cant resume

this has happened a couple times ... someone is uploading a file to me and it gets corrupted so they cant resume, acts like it is going to resume and then just hangs there, does anyone know a way to delete some of the end of the file ... the person uploading to me mentioned something about winmx being able to do that. I figured i could delete an inode from the file but not sure how to do it. Maybe a better way? Thanks for suggestions.
