Anybody else have it running?

I've got 2.6 up and running, and I must say, it's faster to the point that I'm having a wee bit o' trouble adjusting my mousing movements and so forth. Maybe it's just that building in the radeon driver is better than my failed attempts to get the ATI driver to work. It might be that pre-emptible kernel, but I had that in test9 and I didn't feel this kind of speedup.

I used the relatively old madpenguin upgrade article
as a guide, as I'd done with the test versions I used. It worked fine, though I did go into the lilo.conf file and change a few things myself.

I also had to change my fstab file for the same reason: my SATA drive is now seen as hde instead of sda.

Anyway, sweet. I must say, I can't wait until Slackware comes with an installer that will recognize my SATA drive, because I had to make some compromises to get it working (did a straight dd from the old drive to the new, so I have 10 Gig for /, 10 Gig for /home and another 60 Gig marked for storage). But until then, I've got 2.4.22-ac4 and 2.6 working, so life is good.

Have fun,

joe f.
