Upgrading GLib2 and GTK+2 to the latest

Hi,

I'm using VectorLinux 5.8, a Slackware 11 based distro.
Anyhow, I need to update the GLib2 and GTK+2 libraries to the latest version in order to build GNOME 2.16.2.

I have tried to do so, but the packges I made only succeded in wrecking my system. Some VectorLinux forum members said that these libraries are the original ones from Slackware 11, and that Patrick V uses very specific (and complex?) build script for these libs.

I have the Slackware 11 cd pack at home, so would I be able to pull the build scripts for these libs off the source cds and use them on the newest versions of GLib2 and GTK+2 without needing any changes?

Thanks in advance!

Yea, they should work just fine. I use my own scripts but last I checked they're not overly different from the Slackware ones. If your going for Gnome-2.16.2 then build these first in order.

glib2
cairo
pango
atk
gtk2

Update them all. I emailed Pat before the 11.0 release asking if there was anyway he could keep us gnomites up to date but I guess he doesn't really care about it.. What's 5 more packages, eh?

Also, .SlackBuild's are hardly complex... :-)
