upgrade xorg server Slackware 14.1

Is there any way tu upgrade xorg server to last version 1.14.7 in 1.14 branch without recompiling all the "x" packages ?
I did not find any slackbuild to compile server alone .

Thanks for advance.

Usually not. You were wise to ask.
I tried this in the past on a distro(slamd, I think). I needed libpixman, mesa, libdrm, video drivers, xorg-server AND all of the new versions that they needed (because they had all bumped up their requirements). I went down in flames on the compiles, and I am fairly practised at that.

Code:
cd <local mirror>/source/x/x11/src/xserver
mv xorg-server-<version>.tar.xz xorg-server-<version>.tar.xz.orig
wget http://xorg.freedesktop.org/archive/individual/xserver/xorg-server-1.14.7.tar.gz
cd <local mirror>/source/x/x11
./x11.SlackBuild xserver
The SlackBuild allows you to build an individual package as well as a set of packages.

IMO there's no risk trying, as the ABI hasn't changed.

@Didier Spaier

I noticed that reading Pat's slackbuild and do that :-)
Works flawlesly now.
Also upgraded Mesa to 10.0.5, libdrm to 2.4.52, xf86-intel to 2.99.910, kernel to 3.12.25.

This combination of intel graphics stack at low cost of time rebuilding allows me enjoy of increase 3d performance of may new Haswell HD graphisc of about 40% in comparison to default packages from pure 14.1 Slackware.

Thanks for all.

Speaking of xorg-server, anyone tried 1.16 yet? All the clean-up stuff relating to compiler warnings sounds like it could result in something a little more robust:

Quote:
At long last, here's the 1.16 release of the X server! Lots of new
stuff, including (but not limited to):
* Elimination of thousands of compiler warnings. We've been slowly
adding more and more compiler flags to the stock X build to warn us
of unsafe coding practices. Version 1.16 finally addresses the
enormous list of these warnings.

Sounds like time for 14.2 :-). Exactly what packages made the difference, do you think?

For 3D directly Mesa but counts all the stack for newer hardware to run smoothly.
Performance measured by one of the test from "GpuTest_Linux_x64_0.7.0":

1.Mesa 9.1.7 - 306 p.
2.Mesa 9.2.5 -370 p.
3.Mesa 10.0.5 - 430p.

glxgears is not objective in this case IMO.

Very helpfull at least for Intel are "Release notes" here:

You have the HD4400. I have the HD 4000. Know how it stacks up on that?

Nope.
I've got HD Graphics (Haswell) only . 10 streams Vs. 20 streams on HD4400 - about 70% boost more for HD 4400.
HD 4000 on Ivy with 16 streams is about 20% stronger overall than my but results vary depends on type of tests.
