i tried compiling the source

and this is what i get as ERROR

well...the only thing i can think of, is that you're missing something...
as i understand you have all the sources, and run " make world ".

maybe the readme- or install-file have a suggestion ...?

thats what i did from the source after reading the instruction from the Code

and i got this whole code for X

you don't have to boot from a floppy or cdrom to upgrade without running your system..

you can download the initrd image from the isolinux directory in the slackware-* directory on the slackware site. and use this sort of thing to boot it..

initrd=initrd.img load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=0 ramdisk_size=6464 rw root=/dev/ram

you can usually boot your own kernel.. whatever it may be.. custom or stock..

if not use one from the site or discs
