Upgrade of Kernel - 5.4.1 Seems to have broken Plasma 5

Hi There,

Since upgrading to Kernel 5.4.1 Plasma 5 appears to load, but the page is sort of black with no mouse cursor - looked for errors in the log, nothing...which is odd by itself.

Anyone else having issues with Plasma 5 & Kernel 5.4.1?

Thanks,

Running kernel 5.4.1 as of yesterday on current w/plasma 5 from Alien Bob's repository. Nvidia proprietary module NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-440.31.run.

No problems.

Must be something specific to my Laptop - I'm running the default Video Drivers, not proprietary...it's a Radeon HD 8400 / R3 Series Video Card.

Are you using a custom (NVidia, AMD) kernel driver for X?
IF so, it has to be recompiled at every kernel change, otherwise you fall back on the generic screen handling module, which may not work (well) for your adapter.

Look into the Xorg.log file to see which modules X loads.

As mentioned, I am not using any Proprietary Video Drivers - after two days of tinkering, I've decided to do a reinstall with 14.2 Stable and then upgrade to -current with Plasma 5 - as it works on an older tower but not this newer Laptop. I'll figure it out eventually, I'm slower than most at 62 years old : )

The problem was libinput at one point.

As I mentioned, I did a clean install of 14.2, then upgrade to -current, then removed KDE, and then installed Slackpkg+ - ran Slackpkg install ktown (that failed) - so I then used the rsync method in Eric's instructions, downloaded and installed - now everything works : ) This thread has been marked solved.
