upgrade kde problem!!


i use slackware kde3.5.4 i want to upgrade kde and i download some kde*.tgz and install them..but startx appear a white windows and it say "could not start kstartupconfig.check yourinstallation ".i press enter then appear "could not start kdeinit.check yourinstallation"

i no way. who help and tell me how to do it!

What version are you trying to upgrade to ?

where did you get the .tgz from ?

linuxpackages.net and i last install it success..i first install qt then arts then kdelibs then kdebase ..now it can run.but it chinese language support have some problem .no chinese menu but soft display chinese no problem.. i installed kde-i18n-zh_CN but not do it ...

If you installed it, it should work. Did you go into the settings and change it there ?

i success but i use kde-i18n-zh_CN.3.5.4.tar.pkg chinese menu ok...hehe
thanks H_TeXMeX_H perhaps kde-i18n-zh_CN.3.5.6 don't fit my system..
