Upgrade 13.37 to current 14 RC3 partly fail
I have just upgraded Slackware (first time in my life) from 13.37 to 14 RC3 with following procedure:
Code:
vi /etc/slackpkg/mirrors (libs, hald, udev - displayed only on console. Dont really see it in syslog/message.) End result was that system was up but could not find eth0. I have started system from rescue CD and chrooted. In next step I run following: Code:
slackpkg install-new Result: after reboot I have eth0 back but still lot of errors (libs, hald, udev). What did I do wrong ? Is it always like this after upgrade ? btw. I was able to capture last screen from console: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/32/slack.png/ |

Hi Eric,
thank you very much for this link. It is very helpful. I have much better understanding now. I have redo my upgrade test (on my VM) and system looks pretty good now :) However, I feel like to give some comment to yours: Quote:
Eg. Even though you do not have KDE installed, install-new will display to you all KDE packages which are tagged in Changelog with Added. If you do not want to have them installed, you have to deselect them. What I am writing here, might be obvious for someones, however I was doing that for the first time and it was not that clear to me. Hope it will help to someone else. Thanks, czezz |
