upgrade 10.2 glibc omigod
I've held off on the upgrade for awhile, wanting to be as sure as I can that I'll have the time to massage everything into shape. Finally screwed up my courage and started...
Due to lack of sleep/focus/clipboard to hold UPGRADE.TXT, I skipped from step 0 to step 2. Ick.
I've since tried to '--reinstall' but booting creates error messages about 'spawning too fast' (every man's nightmare).
In trying to figure out what's going wrong, it's written (in the NPTL README?) that some of the glibc compiles absolutely need to be run from /. Problem is, when I boot from CD and mount my partitions to /mnt, I can't chroot. (I'm guessing that the chroot then causes my partitions to be valid, which means that bash is no longer operable.)
Is there a way I can roll all this back and do the steps again in order? Specifically, how can I reinstall the 'glibc-solibs-*.tgz' package and then start over.
Did I mention that telinit won't work either?
Thanks,
Geoff.
