Updating DHCP - dynamic inet connection won't update

Hi..

I'm moving back to slack 9.1, but I couldn't get the internet to update the IP automatically.. so I kinda quit..

But I want to move back to slack.. this is how I set up my cable internet connection..

/etc/resolv.conf

search mydomain [but real domain]
nameserver x.x.x.x [but real nameserver]
nameserver x.x.x.x [but real nameserver]

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
-> edited DHCP=yes for eth1 (usb device)

And that gets me online.. temporarily.. but after a while it just ceases working.. even after reboot.. the IP doesn't update I think.. how to do this?

dhcpcd -r should renew your ip but I don't think that's the problem. Are you using a usb nic or a usb modem? Can you use a pci nic? What is eth0 used for?

that was on my old comp (that is more current).. umm.. now there is only eth0..

anyway, it is cable internet through cat 6 into an ethernet usb adapter (changes cat cable into usb...) with pegagus module..

it detects it, but after a while it doesn't renew IP... ?

I want it to automatically update this.. fedora does this for me currently, but I don't know how often and how.. it works dandy though.. but is sluggishly sluggish..

maybe a cron for dhcpcd -r? or is just in a config file?
