Undifined mode number

How is is going fellas. I have a problem with my slackbox every time i boot, I get this error:

Code:
You passed an undefined mode number
Code:
Press <return> to see video modes available, <Space> to continue or wait 30 seconds
this error appears right after I select linux to boot from the lilo menu (this is a dual boot with xp pro). It says "BIOS data check successful" then on the next line, the code pasted above. Obviously thereis a problem with my /etc/lilo.conf file, but I have tried every mode number possible. This is just a test machine that I mess around with, but it is still a pain in the neck.

Also this problem only occurred when I upgraded to the 2.6 series kernel. I am currently on the 2.6.2, but this was occuring with the 2.6.1 as well. This never happened with the default slack kernel 2.4.22, I upgraded to 2.4.24, and did not have this problem. Only with the 2.6 kernel.

That works, but the resolution is really bad, and the font is huge. Do you have any other suggestions, or does any one else.

If your "monitron" can support up to 1024x768 I'd use this one...
Code:
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256
vga = 773
thats the one I use on my laptop and on my desktop and server works quite well.

Yes I have tried that on a long with others such as:
Code:
vga=791
vga=790
vga=788
vga=787
the only one that works is "vga=normal", but the resolution sucks. Should I try upgrading lilo thru swaret. I am using the default version of lilo that was installed with slack, I believe 22.7.5 (that does not look right). I have fluxbox working with 1024x768.
