Unable To Transfer File From Lenovo Tablet Using USB Cable

Hi, I'm using Slackware 14.1 and I have a problem when I want to transfer data from Lenovo tablet to my laptop using the USB cable data. When I connect the tablet and laptop I choose MTP options in my tablet and there is a notification in KDE about portable media player. But when I want click to open it I got the error message in Dolphin just like in the attachment.
For for information, I also give my dmesg result when plugging in the tablet. Code:

I had problems trying to connect to an MTP device, an mp3 player, & finally found gnomad2 worked with it, maybe It'll work for you too.

I use the Airdroid Android app. It nags me to set up an Airdroid account whenever I start it, which I won't do, but it works nicely to transfer files via my home wireless connection.
When it connects to your wireless, it grabs an ip address, which it displays in small print under the "Sign Up Now" message. Enter that address in your browser (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), then accept the connection on the tablet/phone screen. There's a little learning curve to navigating it, but it works quite nicely. Just don't leave it running when you are done with it; it will ping any wireless signal you pass. |

I don't know about the USB cable problem, but if you can't find any other way, the best app for wireless copying is X-plore. It has full SMB support, and is just a two-pane file manager.

You might find this thread helpful: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...2/#post5096213 But I did a quick grep for your USB device VID/PID and unfortunately haven't found anything. The point is, if your USB device can serve multiple functions (e.g. disk or modem), but only one at the same time, then one of the functions has to be disabled for the other to be enabled. So e.g. the function of the USB disk is disconnected and function of modem is connected (this is what usb_modeswitch does). Or maybe, if it's not usb_modeswitch that disconnects your device, then maybe there is something else that does it? On the other hand, if you read the thread throughly, you'll notice that I have iRiver player that will finally connect as USB disk, but it works randomly. -- Best regards, Andrzej Telszewski |

I don't know it that will really apply in this case because a tablet isn't exactly seen as a mass storage device. The filesystem is unavailable to the computer. It uses MTP, media transfer protocol, which is somewhat abstracted from the computer. The tablet handles the transactions, unlike a mass storage device, where the computer handles all the transfers. Another major difference: MTP devices do not need to be unmounted. |
I guess your Lenovo tablet's OS is android .
I sucessfully set up file transfer between my android smartphone and Linux PC by FTP over USB this way : - install FTP server on the android device ("swiftp" is available on fdroid.org repository, I guess any server is OK), - connect USB cable, - enable USB tethering on the android device ; on the PC, network manager should react and connect a new interface. No need for the phone to be data connected before (no wifi nor data sync) ; we don't expect the device to share the connection, we only need IP adress and a route from the PC. - USB tethering should ifup an interface on the android device. - Switch on the FTP server. swiftp listen on this interface, port 2121. No need for rooted device. - access the android device from the PC with ftp client, for instance : lftp -u ftp,ftp -p 2121 ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx This way I can successfully transfer files, manage folders and rename files on the phone. Of course wifi transfer is quicker to set up, while USB should be faster and not require LAN or telecom connection. |
