Unable to extract zipslack 8.1
Frustrating, indeed.
So I want a small distro, see that there's a brand-spankin' new slackware out, and go to get me some zipslack love. But zipslack has no love for me. I've downloaded it from three different mirrors, and every time I try to extract it, I'm told that it isn't a valid zip archive. I am using winzip32, so it isn't a 16- vs. 32-bit unzipper issue. I am using Netscape to do my downloading (didn't want to install an ftp program on a computer that isn't mine). Should I try <gasp> Internet Explorer? Or did the slack gods make a bad zip file? Any insight is greatly appreciated. |
The last zipslack.zip file I have handy is 39,312,259 bytes in size from 2002-06-10. I do not have a Win box available at present, but the Linux Archiver (Ark) doesn't have a problem opening it. I just downloaded a newer file on a mirror that was 39,535,004 bytes from 2002-06-17. It was downloaded from ftp.sunet.se. Ark could open it fine.
Hope the information can be of some help to determine your problem. |
Tried downloading using an honest-to-god ftp program, and everything seems to work. Thanks!
