System:
ExpertBoard 8551 REVv1.1, 128M 72pin EDO RAM Non Parity RAM, 100Mhz Pentium, Seagate 4.3GB Hard Disk, Plextor PX-W4824A CD-RW.
I'm booting(the Slackware 11.0 bare.i disk.) from a BIOS that is unable to boot from cdrom.
It is detected after as hdc: Plextor PX-W4824A...
Then enter the install disks 1 and 2.
cfdisk harddisk ok.
Try to select the drive as my source for installation and doesn't get detected neither in auto or manual as /dev/hdc...
I have an old P1 system also that can not boot form CDrom due to lack of BIOS support. Here is a link to BtMgr, it is a handy bootable diskette that allows you to boot from your CDrom.
From what I can understand of the above (it's not all too clear to me)...
You are using a floppy boot disk to boot because your BIOS won't boot CDs. In addition to this, after you boot and try to install it doesn't properly detect the CD-RW drive.
If this is true, and you have correctly pointed it to the drive and it still won't work, then I would try booting a different kernel.
maybe this one (even tho it doesn't list your CD-RW)
