udev not creating nodes. for sound, etc.

Hey guys.

I'm using Slackware 10.2 with both hotplug and udev enabled. I'm also using a custom built 2.6.12.3 kernel. I'm alsa using alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils from the alsa-project site.

Anyway, the driver modules for both the DViCo lite digital tv card and my onboard intel8x0 sound are loading properly, however for some reason udev isn't automatically creating device nodes.

I have a feeling it is to do with Slackware's udev setup, but I'm not sure. udev is working for things such as hdds, but not for the aformentioned devices.

With alsa, I'm having to run the included snddevices script (which creates the nodes manually), and it works, although the INSTALL file says this isn't necessary when using udev.

When it come to the DViCO lite, again the driver is loading (lsmod, dmesg shows it), but I don't know what devices should be there (i.e. that the relevant kernel interfaces for dvb expect to see). I was hoping udev would be there for me.

I assume my problem has something to do with Slackware's udev setup. In fact, I've seen some other posts which indicate this, but unfortunately there was no solution.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There's nothing wrong with Slackware 10.2's udev configuration. Everything works for me (using a 2.6.11 kernel). Are your sure you've enabled all the correct options in your kernel config?
