Two install questions please

Two questions about installing Slack 10.
First, I hear there is a 2.6.x series kernel on one of the cd's, any way to install Slack 10 with that kernel instead of the standard 2.4.x?
Second, any way to install Slack 10 without a bootloader and just boot from a floppy? I ask this because I want to use grub with my current Ubuntu install and not hose it up and just add Slack 10 to it later.

1. No, installation of a 2.6 kernel can be done after installation, not during installation.
2. Yes, that is an option in the installprogram IIRC.

Do I have to compile it, or just install it? Last time I tried to compile a kernel according to the kernel compile guides here when I had Slack 10 it was a disaster, so I gave up.

do an "expert" install of lilo and tell it to only save to floppy.

For kernel compile guides try http://www.slackwiki.org

You could use kernel-2.6.9 packages, then from the config file, learn how to configure and compile
a kernel, by remove or add some features to the base config (do not forget to add a 'rescue
kernel' in the bootloader config.
