Turning off mail notification in bash

I've configured fetchmail to get mail from all my webmail accounts for archival purposes. Everything is working great except whenever mail arrives, I get a notification in the console. I want to turn this off, and I can't figure out exactly how to do it.

I've searched other threads and tried
Code:
unset MAIL
unset MAILCHECK
unset MAILPATH
bash shouldn't know how to notify me of new mail with those variables unset, but I still get a rather lengthy notification for each e-mail that arrives. This is quite annoying because I really don't care and it interrupts my terminal session.

What am I doing wrong?

Oops, answered my own question. I had never heard of biff before, but all I had to add `biff n` to my .bash_profile. That tells the system not to notify you when new mail arrives.

Perfectly intuitive. [/sarcasm]
