Trying to use Bootdisk Rootdisk getting error

I want to install Slack on a compaq server.
The CD doesn't detect the SCSI raid controller.
The raid.s bootdisk does detect it.
But it gets to a point saying insert the rootdisk.
Well i have tried rawwriting multiple rootdisks and it says a rootdisk isn't entered in the drive.

am i missing a step?
any walkthroughs or how tos out there?

Thanks,

You got a working kernel which is your bootdisc.

Then you need the 2 bootdiscs image.1 and image.2 that you have to insert in that order when it asks for a root disk.

Do you use rawwrite for windows or `cat image.? > /dev/fd0` where ? == 1 or 2
