Trying to install multilib to run 32 bit applications.
I am trying to install multilib following the steps here:
http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...kware:multilib What I've done until now is: a) Download the packages gcc and glibc. b) Run the command upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new *.t?z c) I've also installed compat32-tools-1.0-noarch-1.tgz d) I've made the directory compat32 and cd to it. e) Here I stopped because I am not sure how to follow. The instructions tell me to create a slackware tree and to run the script: massconvert32.sh -i xxxx (where xxxx is where slackware is) Should I download slackware-current or slackware 12.2 iso? What should I do from here? Please, help, help :-) Thank you! |
To get the tree, use Alien Bob's mirror script:
http://slackware.org.uk/3rd-party/al...are-current.sh Then you will have a local tree of slackware 12.2 - do not use the iso. |

Well, finally I have installed multilib after mirroring Slackware-current in my pc.
If I want to install a 32 bit application, Can I download it from slackbuids.org and just install it with no changes or should I use ARCH...? Are all slackbuilds.org packages 32 bits? The only package I've tried this morning befor going to work was GoogleEarth. It didn't work. It says "Segmentation Fault" but I guess this has to do with something different. Thanks again, |
