Trying to create Slackware 13 USB installer from Windows 7
 

So, I am trying to create a slackware 13 USB drive installer from windows 7 so I can dual boot Slackware 13 and windows 7.

So far, I haven't found any information on achieving this whatsoever but from what I understand, I would need to create a fat16 partition to house the Slackware 13 installer image and then create an ext2 partition on the usb drive to house all the packages.

What I don't understand is why can't I just create a bootable fat32 partition on my usb drive that holds it all on one partition instead of creating two seperate partitions.

I have downloaded the slackware 13 x64 version installer dvd iso. I don't have a cd or dvdrom drive and so far have not needed one so I'd really like to not have to go out and buy one just for installing slack.

Anyone have any pointers for me?

I ended using Unetbootin for windows..

Never tested Unetbootin to create a slackware usb disk on windows. I'm glad that it works.
My Slackware usb pens were created with the Alien Bob script on linux.
But I created a usb pen installer of windows 7 with Unetbootin on Win7.

Burn this cd before you go messing with slack 13 and win7. :^D

When i first got my system, I downloaded slack 13.0 x64 bit and messed this windows 7 64 bit box up big time!

I have an emachines ET1331G-03w. The backup cd's it gets you to make doesn't help out either! Alt+F10 doesn't even work. The win7 repair disk i dl'd off that site got my system running again. If i wouldn't have downloaded the repair cd, emachines tech support told me i was gonna have to get a local computer shop to fix my system.(B.S.! :^D)

The only way i can think of to get slackware 13.0 x64 dual booted with win 7 home premium 64 is to get a seperate hard drive and install slack on it so they do not fight with each other! and have a boot cd/floppy/flash so the win 7 MBR doesnt get fooled with. If im not mistaken, the MBR for win7 64 is on a specially partition drive for windows 7 backup. Still learning how to dual boot these two monsters. Peace. :^D :^D
