Trying to connect to work's VPN

At my place of employment, they use Cisco ANYConnect VPN software on Windows to connect to the company network outside of the office.

I am trying to use Slackware64 14.1 as an everyday laptop to see if I can do it, but the one thing I am lacking is the VPN connection.

I am on my own on this as IT does not support Linux on their network. I could just use a Virtual Machine in Windows 7, but I'd really like to do it natively on my own laptop.

What would be the best way to connect to the work VPN through Slackware?

It 'might' be possible to setup your own VPN client on your Linux laptop, but that would depend entirely on the support provided by the VPN server (configuration, authentication mechanism, etc.). Here's a little link from Cisco's website. Try to ask the local IT/network admins if there is a way to authenticate 'manually'. In case there's none, try to read on wine to run your Windows software on Linux.

Simple.

Just grab openconnect. I use it every day without any problems at all.
You might need to use networkmanager though, so the plug in for that too.

vpnc has been working great for me for years. You can get it on slackbuild. If your employer uses a pcf config file, you can use pcf2vpc to extract the necessary config data.

Yes, I use open connect as well.
I used sbopkg to build it. Also I needed to build the relevant network manager plugin and rebuilt network manager as well.
Now for son reason the plasma nm applet does not work for me, however the standard nm-applet works and connects just fine.
