trouble ripping/encoding mp3

Hello. I've been using slackware for a few days now and while I generally like it, I've got a problem that's driving me crazy. I've got 2 ide drives set up for scsi emulation. One's a dvd drive, the other a dvdrw. That problem is that I can't rip/encode cd's as a regular user. It works just fine as root, but as a user I get access errors. The funny thing is, I can play cd's through the cd player app, and i can mount cd's and so on, i just can't rip encode. I've got lame installed, i've tried kaudiocdcreator and grip, I've edited /etc/fstab every way I could find, and nothing. Here's my /etc/fstab.

/dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/sda1 /mnt/winxp ntfs ro 1 0
/dev/sda2 /mnt/files vfat defaults,auto,uid=1000,gid=1000
/dev/sr0 /mnt/dvdr iso9660 rw,noauto,owner,users 0 0
/dev/sr1 /mnt/dvd iso9660 ro,noauto,user 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

I've tried through /dev/sr0 and /dev/sr1, and tried created a symlink to /dev/cdrom, nothing. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help.

*edit*

I forgot to mention that I've added my user account to the cdrom group.

Could you post a sample of the errors you get when you attempt to
rip the audio cds ?

Also you can't combine user and owner option in fstab, try remove owner

add yourself to the disk and cdrom groups might want to check permissions on /dev/sg0

if your using kde use kuser to add yourself to cdrom etc groups

chmod 666 /dev/sg0

Still no go. I get no errors from grip that I can see (I pick a track, hit rip+encode, get a system beep, and thats it) and with kaudiocreator, I put a cd in, the tracks show up, I can do a cddb lookup for the names (it works, but I get an error "CDROM read or access error (or no audio disc in drive). Please make sure you have access permissions to: /dev/sr1") I choose a track to rip, hit encode, and get "Unknown error /dev/sr1".

Well, in the end the only way I could get it working was to remove the scsi emulation on the second (non burner) drive. Anyway, thanks for the help.
