transparent hugepages

i've testing cp and mv actions(in dolphin and mc) in kde5 in current, and is very slow, and the amarok( ifs playing something) stops.

i figure it out that its a matter of hugepages, with

echo always >/sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
echo madvise >/sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
echo never >/sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled

i test the cp and mv commands, and works fine.

how i disable this transparent hugepages in slack?? a lilo line? directly in kernel??

thanx a lot guys

Read this - personally I'd be more interested in what was causing the apparent problem. Also discussed in the same article.

per Google translate: because they do not put that on the rc.local file?

Lemonade, LQ requests that posters use English as a lingua franca.

rc.local likely has nothing to do with this, but, without more detail, there's really little to go on.

OP, could you provide more detail, such as examples of the transactions that led you to determine that "hugepages" is the culprit? The more detail you provide, easier it is for others to investigate this.

theres no need for more details, cp and mv are too slow with transparent hugepage enable, disable it and works fine.

the solution: adding "transparent_hugepage=never" to the append section in lilo.

I hope that it would be useful to someone

syg00, thanx, i'll read the article.

Then the solution seems clear. Don't use hugepages.
