Toshiba Troubles

Hey all,
Gotta a problem. I have a Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504, I'll install it all to what I can see correctly using the Base.i kernel. For some reason it has a problem writing to a floppy to make the boot disk (comes up with an error screen). I have just written this off as a problem cause this particular laptop has no internal floppy but a usb floppy instead. I use either the boot disk or the cd to activate the partition but when it get's to a certain point it just hangs...I think it says something like kernel panic before it locks up. I know the first thing that's gonna come out of everyones mouth is user error, but I know I'm installing it right. I've read about tons of people having the same issues and tried their solutions and still nothing. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

See if you can post the last few lines of text that it displays, and I'll give you what links I've found on setting up Linux on that laptop.

Thanks but I've been to all those sites. I hope they won that law suit. I was wondering why my performance went down. Never put 2 and 2 together.

Hrmm.. just got an email from a friend who has linux installed on that particular model. Give me a day or so, and I'll see if he has any ideas, and get back to ya.
