TightVNC and GUI Changes

I installed TightVNC to control a linux box I have on my LAN. When I log into using the vncviewer it gives me TWM, is there anyway that I change the server to use like fluxbox or something else instead?

VNC will start another X session (session 1) so the setup isn't the same as session 0 (the one that you see on your local computer).

You need to edit the file $HOME/.vnc/xstartup and add whatever command starts the window manager that you use (if you use KDE then the command is "startkde"). Then you need to shutdown the vnc server and restart it.

The xstartup file is the file that starts programs after X server is loaded (as the name would imply).

NOTE: $HOME is the home directory of the user that is starting the vncserver (don't make it root!)

Wow thanks, that worked perfectly I totally missed the xstartup file. I consider myself to be pretty experienced with linux but we are always learning something new
