Thunderbird mail notifications

I'm using slackware 10.2 with KDE 3.5.3

I recently set up an IMAP email accoint in Mozilla Thunderbird.

I am wondering how to get notifications to work, as I can't tell when new mail arrives other than by manually checking.

Kmail does do a pop up window, but i find the app very poor in comparision to thunderbird....

any help would be, er, helpful!

I use this extension to get thunderbird to notify me of new emails in KDE:
http://moztraybiff.mozdev.org/

It works pretty well eventhough it's not solid as a rock.

OK - thanks for the info.

I found this just now in a Ubuntu, Kubuntu forum - maybe it is what you are looking for.

Kubuntu, KDE users can use SuperKaramba with the Aero AIO plugin. It's got a new mail notification option:

It works OK for me. Might you have to play with the sound notifications in Conrol Center?

I use the same extension that antis mentioned. Works for me in both KDE and Fluxbox.
