Thunar file transfer to smb share hangs

Hi all been reading/lurking for a while and thought I would sign in to ask a question or two. I was wondering if anyone else noticed the problem of files being copied to a CIFS share hanging.

Also in deadbeef music player when you add the music from a cifs share it hangs there aswell. With NFS it scans my music fine, so I could just use that but I would like to know why it happens.

I use slackware64 with xfce. Hope i've been detailed enough. Thank-you for any responses.

edit: It's something to do with my freenas, need to add more ram or look at the cifs settings there. Just noticed that the problem happens on my freebsd desktop also. Thanks for your help.

Personally, I have never had this problem. A possible explanation may be in the filenames that are being used. There are characters that are allowed in Linux filenames that are not allowed in Windows filenames. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filenam...ters_and_words

I've seen it with Thunar once or twice with both Samba and NFS. When it happens I usually restart the computer and/or the server, or remount the directory. That typically fixes it. Also, Dolphin and Konqueror usually work without issue when this problem comes up for me.

This is just my own experience though. I've never tried to track down the root cause because it happens so infrequently.
