This isnt a Question.....

Just like to say, that i've now tried Arch, CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Gentoo and BSD and i keep coming back to Slackware.
Hopefully someone deciding on a distro will read this thread.
Stability, Reliability and Security is what its all about and thats why ill never distro-hop again.

I agree with you 0men, ever since I first installed Slack I just can't use another distro. It doesn't feel right, Slack just fits with how I think an OS should be operated. It's not as easy as, say, Ubuntu, but once I get something running on Slack it will run right forever until I personally mess with something. Ubuntu seemed to automatically break things that didn't need to be fixed!

You learn a lot more about linux when things are less automated, it actually feels FUN to learn about Slackware... there is just something about it that always keeps me coming back for more as well.

I've used the distros you've mentioned except Gentoo. Agreed. Slackware is it for me.

yes exactly, but although, sometimes, things which "ain't broken" need to be fixed

Sometimes breaking them is just what you need to do to learn how it worked in the first place!

I think i used (and tested) at least the first 20 distributions on distrowatch and then some. The only real alternatives for me were debian and arch. Debian somehow doesnt feel as true to my ideea of linux as slackware and software would keep crashing and crashing on Arch. So yeah.. i've been using Slackware exclusively for some time now.

I'll add my praise to the choir. I started playing with LFS and, since then, my respect for the development team of Slackware has increased dramatically. Thank you very much for the great work, folks!
