Thanks @Lysander666. Actually no, I am not the author. I'm not exactly sure but I think I got it from here:

https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...ack-wallpapers

Keep in mind that there are lots of wallpapers in this package.

Yup, that would take me ages to compile on my netbook. Fortunately I found this pre-compiled package from the ever-useful SlackOnly:

https://slackware.pkgs.org/14.2/slac...lonly.txz.html

Will download and take a look later.

You don't actually have to compile slack-wallpapers. You can just download/extract the archive and use the wallpapers.

Wallpapers are easy. Any graphic can be utilized easily for the desktop. There are only minor restrictions for graphics as background to Display Manger Login screens like xdm, kdm, gdm, lihgtDM, sddm, etc. There are somewhat more stringent requirements for grub splashes and absolutely restrictive, but doable, limitations on LILO splashes. Some do require tweaking, even exacting editing, but none require compiling per se.

Unless I'm missing something, there's no compiling needed to generate this package. It just unpacks the images, copies them to the correct folder, and then creates symlinks. It should run pretty quick on any system, mainly limited by the speed of the harddrive/ssd.

Well, it is not "my" wallpaper, I did not create it :)

Är du svensk förresten?

No, but you have curated it! And given it to us. You are like a wallpaper publisher. :)

Also no, I am not Swedish, even though I know my handle has a Swedish meaning. It has an Estonian meaning also. But I think I like the Swedish meaning better.

Alright :)

What Estonian meaning? Google translate gave nothing :). In Swedish it means: coldest.

No no no no... It is in the viewers eyes, each with different taste.

But thank you :)

Yes, coldest. I like cold, so that is good. :) In Estonian I'm not quite sure exactly what it means, to tell you the truth (since I am not Estonian either), but it does mean something, because I see it in Estonian language webpages every once in a while. I think it it means something like the flooding of a river or lake or something like that, but it is not the most common word for flooding. It seems to be maybe an obscure word.

Some dictionaries say it means exactly this: flooding:

http://www.eki.ee/dict/ies/index.cgi...ste&F=M&C06=en

Some say spate, which is a very odd way to say flooding in English.

http://dict.ibs.ee/translate.cgi?wor...guage=Estonian

Google translate tells me now that it means the banks (maybe a river bank?)

https://translate.google.com/#auto/en/kallaste

But another time I checked Google translate, and it said it meant shorelines.

And now this one tells me shorelines as well:

https://en.glosbe.com/et/en/kallaste

So I have no idea, really. But probably something to do with water and shores. Maybe there will be an Estonian around here who can tell us!

It is also a town in Estonia that, yes, is on the banks of a lake. Although why you would want to name your town after a flood, I am not sure. But my family passed through there during the Second World War whilst fleeing from the communists, and it is a few of my grandmother's stories. That is why I chose it for my handle. I also like the many (if ambiguous) meanings.
