I didn't do much. I'm not that talented. I used the "Invisible" theme and flicked a few menu settings. Otherwise it's stock gkrellm.

So the secret is an extra theme. Thanks for the info.

Here is my "new" laptop, same as my "old" laptop.

It is a now vintage Toshiba from about 2005, Celeron 1.7Ghz. I have run a somewhat updated Slackware 12.1 on it until recently. Faced with maybe getting a new one recently, I decided to get a new hard drive (1TB) and max out the RAM (at only 2GB) instead, and installed Slackware 14.1.

I like simple and clean, and find the dark theme unobtrusive and easy on my old eyes. But I added the "S" logo and put a little color in my conky this time, just to freshen it up.

It is Fluxbox with a modified MyDefcon_1 basic theme. I put the CPU/DL/UL graphs in the lower right corner where they are visible below anything that is opened full screen above the task bar.

I spend most of my time in Tmux sessions, one example view shown.

Fluxbox, my style lol, a little joke on the wallpaper.
Running as Teamspeak 3 server, Samba, and a few months ago apache server, and my next achievement is create a NFS server. For control it, i use vnc server and ssh.
I'm still learning.

Rxvt.background: black
Rxvt.foreground: white
Rxvt.font: -misc-fixed-*-*-*-*-20-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
Rxvt.scrollBar_right: True

About the same as 10 or more years ago except then i might have been using gnome-panel instead of xfce. The bar panel and slit are all usually autohidden.

OK, I'm kind of getting to like a more colorful desktop - but still dark is my preference.

Here is one of my development machines that I decided to freshen up a bit.

Fluxbox (as always), added transparency to my urxvt defaults.

I kept a familiar conky layout - always nice to know what I am looking for at a glance.

Ok, I have used up all my play time for this week... I have polished up my first best attempt at a truly themed desktop that still meets my no-nonsense constraints, kind of. I like it!

Fluxbox, conky, tinted, transparent rxvt-unicode, a modified Fluxbox theme and an open VLC window now playing.

I hope there is another Sarah Connor Chronicles fan out there to enjoy it with me!
